Moorside is an area of Swinton under the Metropoliton Borough of Salford in Greater Manchester.
Moorside railway station is located in the Moorside and Wardley areas of Swinton, situated on Moorside Road, close to the Chorley Road junction of the A6 road. The station lies on the Atherton railway line which runs between Wigan and Manchester. The line also runs through Salford, Walken, Atherton and Hindley. Moorside is the least used railway station on the Atherton line.
Moorside has its very own local football club, the Moorside Rangers. The Moorside Rangers boast being one of only a small number of clubs in the United Kingdom to achieve F.A. Community Charter Standard Status, which is the highest accolade available from the Football Association. The club was founded in 1976 with its homeground at Beechfarm Playing Field in Swinton, starting with 36 players including two teams at under 11's and 12's. Since then, the club has provided a safe environment for coaching and organised football for young people.
As the Moorside Rangers continued their success, the club launched a project to raise funds to bulid its own club house. Thanks to local volunteers, the club house that stands today was built at a cost of £22,000 and opened the public in January 1982.Moorside Rangers F.C Emblem
